Use summer produce while you still can to create a delicious summer salad when it's too hot for anything else. You'll hydrate while consuming this nutritious meal and if you follow these tips, you'll create something flavorful and delicious too!
Add protein- Obvious & nutritious protein options include chicken or fish, but if you're looking for a quick option a lean deli meat like turkey or canned fish like tuna could be great! If you're looking for a vegetarian option, beans are perfect. I personally like roasted garbanzo beans as a meatless protein option.
Add a fat- You could add goat cheese, parmesan or even avocado. You could also add texture by adding nuts. Adding a little of both is a great combination.
Add a complex carb- Dried fruit or a seasonal fruit is great in salad. Peaches, tomatoes, corn & strawberries are perfect summer produce options.
Season your dressing! If you're making your own dressing with an acid (lemon, lime, balsamic, etc.) with a fat (any oil), at least add salt and pepper but you could also add garlic powder or minced garlic.
Add herbs. Adding cilantro, chives, or green onions will add extra flavor.
